Dr. Kirk Vardeman, DVM
Dr. Vardeman is originally from Gainesville, Ga. where [removed]he graduated from Gainesville High School. He worked as a Veterinarian assistant throughout his high school years. He went to Young Harris College for 2 years and finished his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 and began his career in Blairsville, Ga. After 3 years, he purchased the Hiawassee Animal Hospital and has practiced there ever since. He specializes in general small animal practice. Dr. Vardeman is married to Susan for more than 30 years and has 3 daughters., Amy, Taylor, and Ansley. Dr. Vardeman likes to mountain bike, road bike, water and snow ski, and he enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his family and pets. His family are members of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris, Georgia.

Dr. Smiley, DVM
Dr Smiley was born in Louisville, Kentucky. His family lived in Washington State, Kentucky, West Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, and finally settled in South Carolina. He graduated from Aiken High School, in Aiken, South Carolina. He attended College at the University of South Carolina and Clemson University. He graduated from UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1969.He practiced at Browns Bridge Veterinary Hospital in Gainesville, Ga. for 37 years. After a short Retirement, he came to work for Hiawassee Animal Hospital two days a week, Wednesday's and Thursdays. He specializes in general small animal practice.
Dr. Smiley has been happily married to Donna for 49 years, and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Dr Smiley enjoys fishing in Lake Lanier and along the South Carolina Coast. He also enjoys taking care of his
Bonsais, being with his family, and watching Bulldog Football. He and his family are members of Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Ga.
